RESIDENCE IN AGIA PARASKEVI, ATHENS

Concept: Vertical void spaces

The residence is situated in Pefkakia, Agia Paraskevi, an area whose elevated geomorphology, offers a panoramic view of the Attica basin. Intended for a young, modern family with contemporary interests. The plot is long, narrow and angular, bordered by an open, public square. The design makes the most of its potential, with the residence growing vertically, in height.

Interior spaces extend effortlessly towards the outer building shell in a play of volumetric recesses that create pleasant, properly oriented outdoor spaces. The culmination of these is the house’s exterior terrace, which is perfectly oriented towards the view and Ymittos hill.

An architectural model driven by the full and empty idea, offering relationships in form of negative spaces and passages between the rooms. Externally, it is completed with the use of a second facade system, which “embraces” the building providing its overall unity.
