Presentation in the context of professional information for young people on the topic: “The art and science of architecture”. The occasion is the invitation from DOUKAS School, to whom we are grateful.
Architecture could be said to combine the art and science of creation, as well as the design and construction of structures. Such constructions can vary from a building or a bridge, up to an entire city. But always the most important factor is the person, who is the subject and the object of architecture. The architect must converse with the human echo to solve the enigma of space. Spaces must be alive and breathing, like us.
Equally important in an architectural project is the place where it is located. The way in which the volumes and the forms interact with each other and communicate with the landscape, ultimately determines the identity of the building.
An equally important third factor is light. The light of each place must always be taken into account in the architectural composition, along with the recognition of the human body measure and the importance of scale.
When it comes to designing a project, paralleling architecture with music, the architect is the maestro. He dreams of a project, undertakes its composition, always according to the wishes of the client. Then and during the project he becomes its organizer. He talks and collaborates with all the engineers, as well as with all the competent services, so that the project becomes a reality. The architect coordinates the teams for the construction, supervises the project and ensures the smooth execution and proper delivery of the project at the highest level.
